Someone's cool factor is way off if you think those were good examples of "awesome" pokémon.

Any pokemon who knows both Harden and has the old animation for a move called String Shot is going to be awesome.
I think one of the biggest problems with the current gen pokemon is simply the naming and art design.
The original pokemon had very strong character design and didn't just look like random anime monsters that are thrown out by basically everyone who thinks Japan is cool.

anyways, making more pokemon games is like beating a dead horse. they should prob just redo red/blue/yellow for nostalgia freaks and move onto something else. it's getting pretty tired.

Exactly. It's been progressively downhill since RBY 'cause they just didn't care as much with design.
Anyway, Starmie was always my favorite.. it was a beast of a leading Pokemon. Exploding Exeggutor for close second.

Well, they did come out with fire red and leaf green. Not much else they can do to the original series tbh.

I hope they can do something new with the series with the DS2. No mystery dungeon spin offs though. Something along the lines of a D/P/P and pokemon stadium combo.

Mystery dungeon was such a hilarious failure.

RBY were the best of course.
Then Gold and Sivler provided many great additions to the game and that was probably my favorite.
I could live with ruby and saphire but by a 4th generation with no revolutionary changes and the same cookiecutter Grass/poison, etc pokemon, it was getting old.
But Remakes of Gold and Silver (Soulsilver and Heartgold) are coming out next month. That will probably be "cool"

RBY Had alot of good ones, GS had the best overall line up imo RS had some winners and the newer ones have hardly any real winners (garchomp is a badass) but I am going with some friends to pick up the G/S when they come out, major nostalgia factor there.

It's taken me nearly a decade to notice the awesome innuendo there.
I reckon the games were the best when G/S/C was released.
